Belladonna Salve

The spirit of Atropa belladonna is lustful, alluring and secretive. Saturnine in nature and a gateway for chthonic forces, Belladonna aids in workings with the underworld. She is known as a seductress, and many have used the magic of her glamours to entice a lover. She soothes nerves, eases pain and gifts sleep by the same breath in which she would stop a heart or haunt those very same dreams.

Ingredients: Atropa belladonna, Grapeseed Oil, Beeswax.

Atropa belladonna is the key ingredient in this salve. Their name draws from Atropa, one of the Moirai (The Three Fates), she with the scissors who cuts the threads of our fate, and the  Belladonna translates from Italian to mean quite literally "beautiful lady". The spirit of the plant, often appearing as a beautiful lady, is known as a seductress and rich with glamour magic. She manipulates and coerces to gain what she wants. Berries weighing heavy on the branches like as forbidden fruit. Enticing people to succumb to desire and try one, which quickly becomes a few; and from that lust comes death. Death in the form of initiation, death in the form of losing yourself to find yourself more whole, or death as falling asleep and never again waking up. A Saturnian plant deeply connected to chthonic forces and used by witches to fly to the eternal Sabbat. It is even said by some to be the Devil's favourite plant. To meet the spirit of Belladonna is to meet the powers of Sex, Seduction, Glamour, Domination, Death, Darkness and the Chthonic forces of the underworld.

Possible Side Effects:

May cause drowsiness, dilated pupils, blurry vision, sensitivity to light, dry mouth, difficulty swallowing and increased thirst, increased heartbeat leading into heart palpitations, loss of coordination, dry fever, dizziness, feelings of falling, restlessness and hallucinations increasing into delirium.

Keep ointments away from mucous membranes (eyes, nose, mouth and genitals), open cuts and wounds.

Wash hands after use and discontinue use if a rash occurs.

Do not use it while driving or operating machinery.

Effects can last for 6-8 hours.

• Do not use it if you are already taking anticholinergic medication.
• Do not use it if you are taking MAOIs.
• Do not use the week before or after surgery to avoid overdosing on anticholinergics.
• Safe to use with alcohol, but be aware liquor will increase the nightshades' effects of drowsiness.
